Workout Wednesday!!!!!!! Plus Veganuary So Far

Happy Hump Day to my lovely readers!
I hope everyone is enjoying the week so far, I definitely am, yesterday was one of those days when all good things come at once which was rather fab! These good things were all about work but fun work which is music to my ears as I am enjoying work so much at the moment I am happy for it to continue! I will let you know more when things are a little more concrete so for now feel free to smile with me : )

The week so far has been filled with some yummy vegan dishes.......

Like this savoury rice with garam masala roasted cashews........

Steamed veggies with cashews and zest pesto...........

Stir fried veggies, rice noodles and curry-mango tofu...........

Last but not least rice cakes topped with onion hummus and cucumber.

How is Veganuary going so far? Well as you have seen over the past few posts I have been enjoying some rather tasty foods so there is no complaint there but I am having some issues.  If you have read my blog for a while you will know I have some dietary issues, gluten being the worst but there are other foods I just can't tolerate like peanuts, pulses, milk, white sugar, white onions and seeds. Now I am not a saint and sometimes these creep in but I definitely know about it, I get the worst gut ache and wind ever, not nice for anyone! So not being able to eat pulses or anything with gluten (tempeh, other vegan alternatives) and being vegan is a bit of a pain, I am sure that I am not getting enough protein and the signs are very clear. After exercising I am suffering big time from DOMS which is usually a happy surprise as I don't suffer from it hardly ever. Being a lover of eggs and chicken I usually get quite a lot of protein each day but doing veganuary has taken it away so thats the only thing I can think to blame it on? I plan to continue with veganuary as planned for this month but I will be saying hello to eggs again straight away!

Right time to talk about my new feature.......WORKOUT WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!
Going on a a little Wednesday mission of my own as I know there is already a big blog Wednesday thang but I have never been one to follow the pack! I decided a Workout Wednesday feature would be quite good, I hope you all give me weekly workout a try! I will be looking forward to hearing if you liked the weekly sweat fest! For this first feature I will be giving a leg strength workout followed by a cardio blast, all of which can be down at home so NO EXCUSES!!!

This is sure to get the blood pumping, I hope you get a chance to try this out and as I said feel free to let me know how you get on!! Tune in for next weeks Workout Wednesday!!!

Question:

If you are vegan where do you get your protein?

I can have gluten so tempeh is out and I can't eat pulses.....

  1. I would definitely struggle with not eating meat. Meat is such a big part of my dinners. And not being able to eat eggs...that would kill me. Eggs are my easy go-to meals! But your meals have looked very good and tasty - and so varied!

  2. I can't imagine being vegan without beans so I can see why you are finding it tough. Thanks for that workout, awesome!

  4. I don't eat gluten either, out of choice rather than allergies or anything though. I can't imagine not being able to eat pulses, as beans/lentils make up a lot of my day to day foods. I use hemp protein, sunwarrior's brown rice protein, chia seeds, hemp seeds and nut butters as other good sources of vegan protein.

  6. I think maybe I missed your post about doing this, but if you are really struggling on it then probably being a vegan is not for you- did you sign up to a challenge or something? I mean of course it is up to you, but if your body is not happy then why not just eat some eggs? What about lentils? They seem gentler than beans and still have protein in them?

  7. I'm the same as you - I'm quite sensitive to vegan proteins like pulses and gluten products (I can have a small amount just fine) so I think I would struggle going vegan. Although, it's something I wouldn't mind doing as a challange for a week. Have you explored vegan protein shakes? x
