Guest Post: How Can You Help UNICEF Keep Children Healthy?

Today I have a guest post for you all about UNICEF. We can forget sometimes about the other things that are going on in the world. . I think its good to sit back and take in that everything isn't rosy out there but we have some great people doing their best to change that......

The United Nations Children’s Fund, or UNICEF, is one of the leading children’s advocacy organizations. It operates in more than 100 countries and territories to aid children in both surviving and thriving, in addition to providing emergency relief and working on development projects. The reason UNICEF is able to do all that they do for the health and safety of children is through sponsorship. Here, you will find out more about all of the incredible things UNICEF does for children of the world and just how you can support them.

What UNICEF Does

UNICEF aims to help keep children healthy and to promote their wellbeing in so many different ways, from clean water programs to fostering education. Here are some of the most important ways UNICEF helps to aid children all over the world.

1. Promotes Children Survival and Development

The most important goal of UNICEF is to ensure that all children survive. To support this, they work to provide maternal health care, proper sanitation, clean water, vaccines, and education to children.

2, Protection for Children

UNICEF aims to protect children from any abuse, exploitation, and violence by addressing any risk factors for children and their families. In addition, they strive for the strengthening of all aspects of necessary child protection systems.

3. Provides Education

UNICEF helps to provide education for children, in order to enhance their overall lives and to lead to sustainable development, helping to end cycles of disease and poverty in communities. They use a holistic approach to learning, making sure children are taught how to be active members of their societies, in addition to learning essential educational skills, such as reading and writing.

4. Clean Water and Sanitation
Every child deserves to have clean water and proper hygiene, so UNICEF makes it their mission to help provide children with the necessary clean water and sanitation services they need to survive and thrive.

5. Emergency Relief
UNICEF responds to approximately 250 emergencies every year that affect the health, protection, and education of children. Along with both local and international partners, UNICEF aims to offer a wide range of programs to help with children’s rights during emergencies.

 How You Can Support UNICEF

1. Sponsor a Child
Sponsoring a child is one of the most rewarding experiences. Through a monthly donation, you can help UNICEF provide clean water, food, health services, and education to children in need regularly, allowing them to know the amount of funds they will have available to effectively plan for their missions to help children worldwide.

2. Make a Single Donation
UNICEF also offers single donation levels to support their projects that have the greatest need. For example, a single donation of a specified amount may help to provide measles vaccines, HIV test kits, or purchase bikes to help health workers.

3. Take Action
In addition to monetary donations, you can also help take action by signing petitions that can ensure the rights and wellbeing of children all over the world. You can also help by fundraising, volunteering to help UNICEF, or becoming an advocate.
