Book Review: Spiced Kitchen by Ragini Dey

Hello and happy Tuesday! I hope you have all had a good start to the week I am still enjoying spending time with my mum and today is her last day with us so I have a review post for you to read while I soak up the last few hours of family time: )

I was contacted a while ago to review Spice Kitchen by Ragimi Dey and as you all know I love a good cook book so said a big yes to getting involved. I also really want to start using more flavours in my cooking and this book seems like a fun place to start. 


This book is a real delight to look through and get inspiration from. All the dishes look so delicious I was spoilt for choice, it took me a good while to choose what to make for this review! With my mum here and knowing her love of lamb I decided on the Tandoori-style Lamb Cutlets : )


Tandoori-style Lamb Cutlets 

Lamb Cutlets - I used 8 large
Lime wedges - to serve

Marinade

2 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp turmeric
1/2-1 tsp salt, to taste
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 Tbsp white vinegar (I used apple cider)
125g plain yogurt

Mix all ingredients together other then the yogurt and coat the lamb, refrigerate for 1 hr.
Stir the yogurt through making sure it is mixed throughly and coats the lamb then refrigerate for another hour. 

The recipe says to grill/barbecue but I oven baked mine for about 15 minutes.


I served the cutlets on a bed of red onion and courgette quinoa and we squeezed a lime wedge over the top. Well it was a hit! The marinade for the lamb was gorgeous and had a lovely tang to it, definitely a meal to be made again. I am looking forward to making my next dish from this fab recipe book it has inspired me to get a lot more adventurous with my spice cupboard! 


I made a pumpkin and coconut ice cream for afters but you'll have to wait for this recipe, I promise its coming soon!
