Facing Facts

After my swim today my back unfortunately is pretty sore again : ( not good. Sorry it must be pretty boring me harping on about my sore back but its getting me pretty down. I made my self feel better by spending the morning reading all of your fabulous blogs, I had a rice cake and tahini snack around 12, no picture soz! Then before my driving lesson I had a tasty lunch of homemade soup and rice cakes. I've been asked by a few of you for the recipe so here it is:

Curried Kale and Butternut Squash soup

2 cloves of garlic
1/2 medium butternut squash
1/2 bag of kale
2 carrots
curry powder, turmeric, mixed herbs
1 YF/GF stock cube
olive oil

Chop garlic and brown in olive oil, add stock cube and let the garlic brown.
Add kale and stir, then add carrots, butternut squash and fill pan with boiling water.
Add curry powder, extra turmeric, herbs and seasoning.
Cover and bring to the boil, then let simmer for about 45 minutes.
Whiz up and serve with bread, rice cakes or whatever you fancy.
Enjoy!

After lunch I went for my drive, then popped into my dads for a cuppa and a chat. He's busy sorting his house ready for the double glaziers that are coming Friday, his house is actually going to be warm! I left him to his sorting and went home to start typing up my assignment.

After typing for a while I felt a rumble in my tum but it was to early for dinner so I grabbed a tiny apple to keep the hunger at bay.

Blimey yes my dinner was this big! I had a giant dinner of salmon in tom sauce, brown turmeric and ginger rice and steamed veg.

Wow this was good I couldn't all the rice though but I gave it a good try! Looking at this I so need to down size my meals especially not being able to exercise in my normal way! Its annoying even though I can't do my normal exercise routine I can still eat the same amount not good!

Amazingly I still had room for pud. This is my protein ice cream mistake! I left the icy mess to melt during the afternoon so it turned into a cool mouse topped with yog and trail mix, so good!

I will definitely take note of the great pointers you gave me and try to make a better batch.

I have definitely come to realize I MUST give my back a rest its never going to get better otherwise, its been nearly a month and is still really painful so I have decided other than walking I shall not do anything else til my next appointment on Tuesday. Which means no swimming in the morning. I think I will go for a morning walk though before work because I just stand around at work which isn't good either.

Right I'm going to have a nice hot shower and rub some lavender oil into my back then get comfy in bed ready for some big brother trash tv!

Question:

Do you have any hemp protein bar recipes?

I have 2 big pots of hemp protein but in shakes its foul so need some inspiration!

  2. Hemp recipes...well, my chocolate protein brownie oats could easily use hemp rather than brown rice protein.

Or in any kind of pancake recipe that calls for protein powder, you can use hemp.

I am sooo sorry to hear your back is bothering you. It's good to talk about it and get it off your chest I think...that's what you're using your blog for (in part) and if it feels good, do it! :)

  4. I really hope your back start to feel better. I definitely know back pain having done gymnastics+cheerleading growing up. I think I've got permanent damage and it acts up quite a bit. Get a heating pad. Try some yoga poses.
